Biodata: Adisa Azapagic is a Professor of Sustainable Chemical Engineering. She is currently Deputy Head of School and Head of Research. Her research interests are in the area of Engineering for Sustainable Development, which includes systems optimisation, clean technology, life cycle assessment, industrial ecology and corporate sustainability. She has over 100 publications in these areas of interest, including two books. She is currently managing a research portfolio of £8.5m. Adisa has held a number of fellowships and honorary appointments, some of which include fellowships from the Royal Academy of Engineering, UNESCO and the Erskine Visiting Fellowship from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. |

Prof. Frank Behrendt

Biodata: Prof. Dr. Frank Behrendt received his diploma in chemistry in 1984 from the University of Heidelberg. He completed his Ph.D. thesis at the same university in 1989 in the field of simulation of combustion processes using detailed chemical reaction mechanisms. His habilitation on catalytic ignition and combustion processes was completed in 1999 at the University of Stuttgart. Since 2001 he holds the Chair for Energy Process Engineering and Conversion Technologies for Renewable Energies at the Berlin Institute of Technology (TU Berlin). He coordinates all energy-related research activities at that university. His research interests include numerical and experimental investigations of gasification processes of biomass leading to synthetic fuels as well as numerical studies on heterogeneous catalytic reactions and reactors. Since 2007 he is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (ACATECH). |

Prof. Yukihiko Matsumura

Biodata : Prof. Yukihiko Matsumura graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Tokyo in March 1988. He then furthered his postgraduate studies in the same university and obtained his Ph.D in the year 1994. Upon his graduation, he was appointed as a visiting scholar to the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, University of Hawaii and then later returned to University of Tokyo in 1996 as an academic staff. In 2001, he joined Hiroshima University as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and was promoted to full professor in 2007. He is currently the Manager of the Biomass Project Research Centre, Hiroshima University. Prof. Matsumura’s current research interest is in the conversion of biomass and organic waste into useful materials using supercritical water. |

Prof. Zhiguo Yuan

Biodata : Dr Zhiguo Yuan is a Professor in Environmental Engineering, and Deputy Director of the Advanced Water Management Centre at The University of Queensland, Australia. He has a strong background in the modeling, instrumentation and optimization of wastewater systems. He has to date made considerable contributions to both the fundamental understanding of, and technology development for biological nutrient removal wastewater. His current research focus in this area is on the prevention of N2O emission during nitrification and denitrification. Dr. Yuan is currently leading a A$20m national research program in Australia that focuses on the understanding of the in-sewer biotransformation processes and the development of abatement technologies for sulfide and methane emissions.
Dr. Yuan is currently the Chair of the IWA Specialist Group on Instrumentation, Control and Automation, and a member of the management committees of two other specialist groups. He is on the Editorial Boards of Water Science and Technology, and Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering in China. |

Biodata : Dr. Kalyana Sundram is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director, Science & Environment, MPOC. He has more than 25 years of research experiences related to various aspects of the palm oil industry. Much of his work has centered on research into food, nutrition and analytical aspects of oils and fats especially palm oil. He holds several patents in these areas, leading to successful commercialization of palm based products on the global markets. Dr. Sundram is a member of several international expert panels on oils and fats and regularly acts as an invited reviewer of several international journals.
