RESEARCH INTERESTS
The primary interest is in catalysis and kinetics of hydroprocessing. In the area of hydroprocessing catalysis, current studies are focused on the development of mesoporous material as catalyst support for heavy oil upgrading, hydrotreating process and also in biofuel upgrading. Various metal carbide catalyst are being investigated in heavy oil hydroprocessing reactions. In these works, catalyst activity measurements are combined with catalyst characterization in an attempt to better understand the catalytic chemistry of metal carbide supported on mesoporous material. The research outcome will contribute to better understand the relationships between catalyst properties, reaction kinetics and reaction mechanisms which can help in the design of better catalysts in the development of new catalytic processes. Another research interest is the reactor and reaction kinetic modeling and simulation as well as parameter estimation in chemical engineering using various numerical methods.
