For the fifth consecutive year, Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed, has been listed in the top 1% of Engineering field for most Highly Cited Researcher 2018. Professor Bassim was first included in this prestige list in 2014, and has remained there since.

Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed received Malaysia’ Research Star Award 2017

Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed, group leader of Reaction Engineering & Adsorption (READ) research group, received Malaysia’s Research Star Award 2017. The event held on 5th October 2017 at Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC), Putrajaya. The award recognizes his achievement as a Highly Cited Researcher according to Elsevier and Clarivate Analytics.

Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed Selected as a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher for 2016

 

Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed, School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia has been named as a Highly Cited Researchers 2016 in Engineering by Clarivate Analytics, the former Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters for the third consecutive year.

The Highly Cited Researchers 2016 list includes more than 3,000 highly cited researchers in 22 main subject fields. Researchers make the list if their research publications were in the top 1% of the most cited papers for their subject field and year and indexed in the Web of Science.

Professor Bassim was recently listed as one of the Most Cited Researchers for Chemical Engineering and Environmental Science & Engineering Subjects of 2016 by Shanghai Global Rankings of Academic Subjects.

Professorial lecture

It is the delight of the READ Group to highlight the successful Professorial lecture of Prof. Bassim H. Hameed. The lecture took place on 15th June 2011 at Engineering Campus of USM, Nibong Tebal, Penang, Malaysia.

The title of the lecture was “Agro-Activated Carbons: low-cost, renewable and sustainable for clean environment”. Prof. Bassim, in his Lecture dwelt much on the conversion of waste to useful material. The slogan of the lecture is anchored on “Don’t Waste Waste”. Any waste can be transformed into a potentially useful material. In this delight, Prof. Bassim did justice to his lecture by taking his audience through the process by which various waste can be converted to activated carbon, a material which is very effective in the removal of pollutants from wastewater and air. A clip showing how our river waters are polluted was shown which a motivating factor to finding materials, such as activated carbon and other adsorbent which can be used in the treatment of water.
