The Process Control Laboratory Has been designed to give training in the areas of process instrumentation, process dynamics and computer process control. Anumber of pilot plant equipment have been connected to a central Distributed Control System - mXL. The unit can be operated individually or interconnected to from a more complex real life system. The equipment in the laboratory are:
- mXL DCS System with Analog and Digital input channels and operator console. The system id used for computer control of the process.
- Boiler Drum Simulation Unit, comprising of boiler drum, heat exchanger and pumps with flow, temperature, pressure transmitters and control valves. The unit can be controlled from the panel using a YS-170 controller or control can be transferred to the DCS system.
- Simulated Chemical Reaction Plant comprising a reactor, pumps, pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen transmitter. This system simulates a simple neutralization reactor.
