
School of Chemical Engineering KIKeK2025 Fosters Unity and Spirit Through Friendly Competition

The event was officiated by the Dean, Professor Ir. Dr. Zainal Ahmad, alongside the event sponsor, Mr. Hito Yuen, representative of Well Gift Printing Sdn. Bhd. The day officially began at 8.00 am with a welcoming speech by Prof. Dr. Zainal, who emphasized the importance of wellness and bonding beyond the lecture halls. The speech was followed by a lively opening ceremony at the sports complex, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day.
Energizing Start and Team-Based Activities
Kicking off the activities was a vibrant senamrobic session, uniting students from Year One to Year Four with academic and non-academic staff. The session was led by Pn Zalilah Ahmad, one of the School's assistant engineers, alongside a group of energetic student volunteers. The collective movement and music helped warm up the participants for the games ahead.
The first competitive segment, the Mini Games, involved five rapid-fire challenges designed to test teamwork and speed. Four student teams and one staff team raced to complete in all games, drawing cheers and laughter from the sidelines as they competed in the friendly contest.
Competitive Yet Friendly Matches
Following the mini games, attention turned to the more physically demanding dodgeball matches. Each team, comprising 10 participants, displayed agility and strategy, battling for supremacy in a series of intense showdowns.
The highlight of the day came with the Tug-of-War, where both staff and student teams dug deep to prove their strength and coordination. With shouts of encouragement echoing across the field, the event encapsulated the true spirit of sportsmanship and collective effort.
Celebrating Winners and Shared Success
At 11.15 am, a prize-giving ceremony was held to honour the best-performing teams and participants. Prizes were presented by Dean Prof. Ir. Dr. Zainal Ahmad, Deputy Dean (Academic and International) Prof. Dr. Suzylawati Ismail, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Masrina Mohd Nadzir, Manager of Talent Empowerment and Creativity. These prizes include the games which was held 2 days earlier prior to the main event, the games include; badminton, ping pong, pétanque, futsal and volleyball.
The event concluded at 12 noon with a group photo session, capturing smiles and memories with all the winners and the School's management team.

KIKek2025 was a resounding success, reinforcing a sense of unity among students and staff while highlighting the School of Chemical Engineering’s commitment to promoting a healthy work-life balance. More than just competition, the event celebrated the values of collaboration, resilience, and mutual respect—qualities deeply rooted in both engineering and community spirit.
