USM Lestari Fun Run 2025

The School of Chemical Engineering USM recently organised the USM Lestari Fun Run 2025, which brought together nearly 300 participants from across Penang, Kedah and Perak. Held on 22 November 2025, the event featured two categories, the 5 KM run and the 1 KM Kids Dash with participants ranging from as young as three years old to seniors aged 70.



We extend our deepest appreciation to our sponsors, Mydin, Elgini, Decathlon, Sports Element Group, Klinik Pakar Jammy Suzana and PARKROYAL Hotel & Resorts for their generous support. Our heartfelt thanks also go to our co-organisers, the Office of the Campus Director (Engineering Campus), Ikatan Mahasiswa Johor (IKMAR), the Chemical Engineering Students’ Society (ChESS) and Howei. Their commitment helped ensure that the event fulfilled its aim of promoting healthy lifestyles within the local community while highlighting the importance of sustainable development (SDGs). We are also grateful to the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Pejabat Keselamatan USM and the Unit Kesihatan Engineering Campus for their assistance in ensuring the event ran smoothly. The USM Lestari Fun Run also marks the kick-off to the USM Engineering Campus’ 25th Anniversary celebration in 2026.

Sustainability was a central focus of this year’s event. Inclusive participation was encouraged across all ages and abilities, recycling points were provided, running bibs were produced using fabric, registration was fully paperless, and the programme was supported through collaborations with various partners. As we conclude, the School hopes that initiatives like this will continue to receive strong support from the community and our partners as we advance our sustainability efforts. May this small step pave the way towards a healthier, more caring and more sustainable community.
