
Celebrating Excellence: 141 Chemical Engineering Students Honoured on Dean’s List
22 April 2026 – The School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) proudly celebrated academic excellence as 141 students were recognised in a Dean’s List Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Semester I, Academic Session 2025/2026.
The ceremony, held at the Auditorium Hall, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus at 2.00 p.m., was organised by the School in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Chemical Engineering Student Society (CheSS). The event reflected a strong commitment to acknowledging student achievement in a setting that mirrored the pride and formality of a graduation ceremony.
Honouring Academic Achievement
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the School’s leadership, including Professor Ir. Dr. Zainal Ahmad, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Azam Taufiq Mohd Din, Deputy Dean (Academic and International), and Associate Professor Dr. Vel Murugan Vadivelu, Deputy Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies).
In his address, the Dean congratulated the recipients for their dedication, perseverance, and academic discipline, highlighting that such achievements are a reflection of both individual commitment and the supportive academic environment fostered by the School.
Recognising Outstanding Students Across All Years
A total of 141 students were awarded the Dean’s List recognition, distributed across all years of study:
- Year 1: 39 recipients
- Year 2: 28 recipients
- Year 3: 28 recipients
- Year 4: 46 recipients
The strong representation across all cohorts reflects consistent academic performance and the growing culture of excellence within the programme.
Student-Led Excellence in Organisation
The ceremony was led by Project Director Nur Afiqah Zulhilmi Margiulin, a Year 1 student, demonstrating early leadership among the student body. The event was smoothly conducted by the Masters of Ceremony, Siti Khadijah Syaripuddin and Muhammad Danish Danial Husaini, both Year 2 students.

Inspiring Future Success
The Dean’s List Ceremony served not only as a platform to recognise academic achievements but also as a source of inspiration for all students to strive for excellence in their academic journey. The formal presentation of certificates, coupled with the celebratory atmosphere, reinforced the value of hard work, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Through initiatives such as this, the School of Chemical Engineering continues to cultivate a culture that values academic distinction, leadership, and holistic development, preparing its students to excel in both professional and societal contributions.
