1. Overview & Objectives

The Industrial Training Programme is an integral, credit-bearing component across all Bachelor of Engineering with Honours degree programs offered at the USM Engineering Campus. Accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Malaysia under the Washington Accord, our programs are designed to combine rigorous theoretical fundamentals with practical industry applications.

We invite companies of all sizes, from established MNCs to dynamic Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to partner with us. This placement bridges academic knowledge with real-world industry operations, giving undergraduates practical experience while providing host organizations with skilled engineering support.

 4. Expected Roles & Responsibilities

For the Host Company

• Work Scope: Assign meaningful tasks and projects aligned with the student's engineering discipline.
• Industry Mentorship: Designate an engineer, supervisor, or technical manager to guide the trainee's tasks, safety adherence, and workplace orientation.
• Evaluation: Complete the Employer's Final Evaluation Form at the conclusion of the attachment.
• Safe Environment: Provide a safe working environment and necessary safety orientation/PPE appropriate to the work setting.

For the Trainee

• Adhere strictly to company policies, operating procedures, safety guidelines, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
• Keep an active training logbook/journal and complete assigned tasks diligently.
• Maintain professional conduct as an ambassador of USM.

 5. How SMEs & Companies Can Offer Placements

1. Submit Internship Opportunities: Share details regarding available positions, desired engineering discipline, brief job scope, work location, and allowance (if applicable).
2. Student Selection: USM will broadcast vacancies to eligible students across the relevant engineering schools. Companies may review resumes and conduct interviews to select suitable candidates.
3. Official Confirmation: Issue an official offer letter to the selected student with a copy sent to the USM Industrial Training Committee.
