It is with great pleasure to announce that School of Chemical Engineering USM has won the first and second places for the Car Competition and also the first place for the Poster Presentation of the 7th Chem-E-Car Competition organized by the Chemical Engineering Technical Division (CETD) of the Institution of Engineers of Malaysia (IEM). This achievement has placed USM as the national champion for the Chem-E-Car competition of 2012.

Purpose of training:
This course is designed for those who want to gain knowledge on GC basic maintenance and systematic approach to isolate and troubleshoot common GC problems.

• Basic GC mainframe 
• GC flow system 
• Carrier and detector gases 
• Inlet systems 
• Column troubleshooting and maintenance 
• Automatic liquid sampler (ALS) 
• Detector troubleshooting and maintenance 
• Data system         

Prerequisites:  
Basic understanding of fundamentals and a working knowledge of GC. Knowledge of Windows XP or Windows 7.

The School of Chemical Engineering under its student’s society, (CheSS) had successfully held the internal Chem-E-Car Competition on the 7^th of March 2012. The competition, which was considered as one of the School’s annual events took part at the Main Hall of the Engineering Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia with the highest participation ever, since it was first introduced nearly 5 years ago.

Purpose of training:
This training is conducted to fully equip the end users with the knowledge maintenance and troubleshooting of Agilent HPLC system (limited to 2 users per equipment).

This course is designed to allow LC operators to learn the basic of LC maintenance and systematically isolate and correct common instrument chromatographic problems.

    • Basic LC mainframe
    • Solvent delivery system
    • Injectors
    • Detectors
    • Reproducibility and linearity
    • Column and column fittings
    • Troubleshooting

Prerequisites:         
Basic knowledge and experience in running LC. Knowledge of Windows XP or Windows 7
