KUALA TERENGGANU, 29 April 2017 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) terus cemerlang memartabatkan penerbitan karya ilmiah apabila berjaya merangkul tiga anugerah di Majlis Anugerah Penerbitan Ilmiah Malaysia (MAPIM-KPT) 2016 yang berlangsung di Duyong Convention Centre, Duyong Marina & Resort, di sini, malam ini.

29 April 2017, the School of Chemical Engineering Students’ Society or in short, ChESS welcomed 8 secondary schools around Kerian in Perak and Nibong Tebal in Penang for a one-day program concentrating on a rather difficult subject in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, (SPM) – Additional Mathematics.

Syahida Farhan Azha, a doctoral student undertaking research in wastewater treatment won first, beating all other engineering contestants in the Three Minutes Thesis taking place at the USM’s Dewan Budaya in Penang.

The School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia celebrates the recent achievement of Mr. Zulkarnain Mohamed Idris, a doctoral student who has been awarded the Robert S. McNamara Fellowship by the World Bank. Zulkarnain is currently working on a project entitled 'Synthesis of Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Ordered Mesoporous Composite for Biomolecules Recovery' under the supervision of Dr. Azam Taufik Mohd Din. He will be leaving for a 9-month research attachment beginning July 2017 until March 2018 in Lund University, Sweden working in the laboratory of Professor Emeritus Dr. Bo Mattiasson. Bo is a renowned scientist in the field of biotechnology and had published many high impact publications as well as edited a number of research books in the area. He will supervise Zulkarnain during the 9-month stay in Lund.
